i don't that is anymore the case. look at silverlight 1.1/2.0 and xaml. designers work on UI and user experience and developers work on functional part. Designers and Developers can work side by side in their areas of expertise and get the work done.

Java's growth was not good as javascript's when looked at a short period of time.
Due to lot of politics in the Java world especially by IBM, Sun, BEA, Oracle, etc, it caused a lot hindrance in its growth.
Also java was selected as a development of choice at the enterprise level, whereas javascript with AJAX became the choice web 2.0 UI development. And also due to support by major industry heavyweights its growth was enormous. It is growing like anything.
Thanks for the unity in the tech world atleast for AJAX.

Ajax in web was the hot topic for the past two years and looks like mobile too getting the same heat now.

It is a cool ajax development ide wrote on top of eclipse. it is a bit heavy in terms of size and memory constraints but worth its price (free!)

Oops!, that is a hell lot of money. Like web 1.0, companies are again over valued in web 2.0. Let's see what happens when open social comes out.
